October 2011

As I'm writing this blog I am overwhelmed with joy that I have finally departed the dreadful Facebook. I have been thinking of doing this for the whole year that I've had the account. I actually never really wanted a Facebook page, as some of my close friends will attest to, I merely felt persuaded to create a page due to the fact that MySpace was and is increasingly becoming obsolete. So this week I finally pulled the trigger, or clicked the mouse, and deleted the page. For those of you who have never gone through this process, I urge you to give it a try. In all actuality, you never really delete your profile from Facebook. This was confirmed at the end of my purging experience, when I received a pop-up that basically stated, If you'd ever like to re-join Facebook simply enter your username and password and your account will be restored. You can find me online here.

My teaching practice is steadily increasing locally, and I am currently working on a creative, fun, online infused way of reaching the masses....so anyone can receive some good ole' Randy Lane insight.

Thanks for reading. See ya soon!

Randy Lane - Private Lessons

Hello,

I am writing this blog as a advertisement for my private teaching practice. Recently I have been hurled (back) into teaching privately. I have taught privately for 12 years, periodically, largely due to my touring and personal schedule. Recently life has allowed me to again focus on teaching. Since fall of 2010, I have been steadily building a student base, as well as some fresh ideas to my ever expanding curriculum. I hope to be offering lessons via the web very soon, in addition to my practice here in Florida.

If you are interested in private lessons I can be reached by email:

Idiot's Guide to Gigging.

As I am writing this blog, my mind is re-capping the events that happened last night on a gig. I am only going to touch on the topic and details, because I am seriously thinking about writing a instructional manual on gigging.

Lesson 1 - Bring two of everyting. Eventually, when you least likely suspect, your gear (guitars, bass, drums, cables, speakers, etc.) is going to not have a good day. It may be a simple fix, like batteries or a cable, or something major like wiring of said instruments. Point is, you will spend more time looking and feeling like a moron attempting to suss out the faulty instrument, or you can simply grab the back-up.

Lesson 2 - Show up extra early to gigs. This not only helps you in the sense of having ample time to set-up, soundcheck, eat and freshen-up...but it allows you time to drive around town to find a suitable back-up instrument in the likely event that it shall fail. (SEE ABOVE)

More to come in the book. Right nmow I'm off to fix gear for tonight. Cheers!

Pat Travers - "FIDELIS"

Pat Travers released his new record entitled "FIDELIS" this month. I am fortunate enough to have a few tracks of drumming on this record....thanks Pat. You can here me on tracks 2, 3, and 9. I had a great time recording this record with Pat and the boys. Special thanks goes out to Steve Thompson, Steve Chauley, John Breau and Alexus Records.
